Clothe yourselves all of you,
with humility t’ward one another,
for God opposes the proud
and gives grace to the humble.

So humble yourselves under God’s mighty hand.
In His time He will exalt you.

I originally adapted this text for a choral anthem during a sermon series on 1 Peter. When our series on 1 Samuel began I was reminded of this piece again. The theme of God exalting the humble and opposing the proud was evident in Hannah's Song, echoed in Mary's Song and explicitly stated in 1 Peter and implicit in the gospel message. I refashioned the anthem for congregational use in 2008.
