Anthony D. Moore (2004)
Our only hope is that God has mercy. Our only hope is the glory of the cross. Our only hope is the love that flows from heaven. Repent, believe, by faith receive the hope that is found in God alone. Our only hope is that God is faithful. Our only hope is the holiness of Christ. Our only hope is His hand that truly heals us. Repent, believe, by faith receive the hope that is found in God alone. Our only hope is the simple gospel. Our only hope is the grace we still receive. Our only hope is His Word that stands forever. Repent, believe, by faith receive the hope that is found in God alone. |
I was in a conference break out session when a local pastor said in passing, "You know it really boils down to the fact that our only hope is that God has mercy on us." That line struck me and I wrote it down. From there I wrote down other expressions of hope in the gospel. These "only hopes" are ways in which the Lord has poured his mercy out upon us.
The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made. Psalm 145:8-9 |
